| After graduating from Goldsmiths
College Dee kicked of his career in a post production facility as a runner
before eventually making his way to senior post production producer. The
8 years he spent at blue saw him not only work on award winning projects
for television but he also managed to develop and produce projects of
his own on a regular basis. His progress has been steady. All too aware
of the clutch of young film makers who arrive and disappear over night,
Dee has set his stall out by expressing the importance of “knowing
your craft” in order that he has a long and distinguished career
in film.
As well as working with the likes of BBC Films, Channel 4 and Blast Films
he has developed a strong working relationship with the UK Film Council,
Film London and B3 Media who have commissioned him to make films which
have enabled him to push on to the next level in his career.
Having written and collaborated on a number of short
films and after gaining invaluable experience in the world of post
production, he has now flipped his script yet again and is cutting his
teeth within the walls of Channel 4 as an on air promotions director.
Marrying his eye for a good shot with his avid editing skills Dee finds
himself raising his game again to feed his desire to improve in an area
where the competition doesn’t phase him.
“I’m friend’s with a lot of people who have a real talent
for telling stories or depicting other peoples emotions. I find them really
inspiring and we help each other along the way. I also know a few people
who call themselves directors and they can’t differentiate between
a camera and a boom pole. I find them inspiring as well, the way I see
it is if they’re out there making stuff you can bet I’m gonna
be out there doing my thing”.
Dee considers himself an ‘independent filmmaker’ above anything
else. His aim is to add to the three screenplays he has already written,
developing a slate of ideas that will eventually lead to the production
of his first feature project.
